Migraine is one of the most common disease of the nervous system. It is basically a type of headache that generally occurs in episodes or “attacks”. A migraine is a shuddering, intense headache in one- half of the head. It can affect people of all the  ages. The pain of a migraine is usually moderate to severe and can interrupt  the normal human activities. This  pain may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensibility to light or sound.
During the migraine attack, the blood vesselsof  the brain expand and then bring together with stimulus of nerve endings near the affected blood vessels. These alterations to the blood vessels are probably what causes the pain, but migraine is still a condition that is poorly realized.
Most of the people suffering from migraine are knowledgeable that various foods like  cheese, wine,  chocolate or citrus fruits, can be responsible for causing  the attacks.

Migraine are  sparked by many other different things, including stress, exercise, bright lights, flickering lights, loud noises, strong smells, lack of sleep or too much sleep and certain foods.
In women the migraine  attacks may be sparked off by hormonal changes, e.g during the  menstruation
cycles (periods).
Thus, the Migraine sufferers should avoid factors such as alcohol, lack of sleep and foods that are known to cause attacks.
Some people may also suffer from various other  monitory symptoms, such as numbness or tingle on one side of face, around the mouth or down the  one arm.

The first-ever attack of migraine may  look like many other conditions, including meningitis or even a stroke, and so great attention can be needed in making the initial diagnosis. Once several attacks have occurred however the pattern then becomes recognizable. Depending upon the conditions,  it may be essential for the person to see a neurologist  to have investigatings such as a brain scan.
The first course of treatment is all of the time to try and identify trigger off factors, which implies keeping on a deliberate record of cases, primarily of the foods that have anteceded  the  attack. These peculiar  foods are discovered to be as migraine activater in about 20 % of sufferers. The large female prevalence within the  migraine diseased person  directs to the grandness of hormonal factors such as the menstrual cycle. Most of the women also find that the contraceptive pill worsens these attacks, and if and so it should be totallly stopped.

Patients  suffering a migraine should always  try to rest in a dark and quiet room.

Treatment for  migraine is most effective if it is  given at  begin of  the attack.

It can be treated effectively with a diversity of medicinal drugs  depending on the individual. A mere painkiller like paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen also can be effective at relieving migraine pain  and thus  are usually the first ever treatment tried. They are mostly taken in soluble form because the soluble forms are easily absorbed by the body. If sickness or vomiting are a problem with migraine   then suppositories may be preferred, or else an antisickness medicine may be taken with a painkiller. There are also products available that combine these with a painkiller, e. g Paramax, Domperamol, Migramax.etc.

Most frequently numerous kinds of medicinal drugs  need to be tried and maybe combined earlier the most effectual treatment for each individual patient can be found. Alternate therapies, such as homoeopathy and acupuncture, are known even if the proof supporting their effectiveness is poor or absent. The herbal remedies  have also shown some effectiveness in preventing migraine disease.
Lifestyle and dietary advices  are always significant.

Tuberculosis also called as TB , is an infective disease that is caused by mycobacteria, primarily Mycobacterium tuberculosis and it commonly attacks the lungs as pulmonary TB, but it can also attack almost any part of the body mainly, the central nervous system CNS , the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, the urinary system, joints, bones and even the skin. TB is spread from person to person mainly through the air.

Over 1/3 of the total world’s population has been exposed to the TB bacterium, and new transmissions occur at a rate of 1 per second. Not everybody infected gets the complete disease; symptomless, inactive TB infection is the most common. However, one in ten inactive infections will lead to active TB disease, which if left untreated may kill more than half of its victims.

People with TB in their lungs or throat when cough, sneeze, laugh, sing, or even talk, the germs that cause TB may spread throughout the air. If the other person sitting nearby inhales this air, there is a chance that they also will become infected with tuberculosis.

There is a great difference between the persons being infected with TB and the persons having TB disease. A person who gets infected with TB has the TB germs in their body. The body’s defenses are protecting them from the germs and they are not sick. This is referred to as latent or inactive TBI.

A person with TB disease is sick and hence can spread disease to other people as well. Such person needs to see a doctor as early as possible. This is referred to as active TBI.Even out if someone becomes infected with TB, that does not mean they’ll get TB disease. Most of the who become infected do not develop TB disease because their body’s defenses protect them. Most active cases of TB disease result from activating old infection in people with impaired immune systems.

However, It is not so easy to become easily infected with tuberculosis. Generally a person has to be very close to the individual suffering from TB disease for a longer period of time. TB is thus, usually spread between family members, close friends, and people who work or live together. TB is spread almost easily in closed spaces over a long period of time.

Individuals in this world are newly infected with TB bacilli every second and one-third of the world’s population is currently infected with TB. Only about 10% of these people develop TB disease in their lifetime. The other 90 percent will never get sick from the TB germs or be able to spread them to other people.

TB can be a hard disease to diagnose, mainly due to the trouble in culturing this slow-growing organism in the laboratory. An allover medical evaluation for TB includes a medical history, a chest X-ray, and a physical examination.

When this disease becomes active, 75 percent of the cases are of the serious pulmonary TB. The Symptoms includes chest pain, coughing up blood, and a prolonged cough for more than 3 weeks. Systemic symptoms include fever, chills, night sweats, appetite loss, weight loss, and often a tendency to fatigue very easily.

In the remaining 25 percent of the active cases, the infection moves from the lungs, causing other kinds of TB more common in immunosuppressed persons and young children. Extra-pulmonary infection sites include the pleura, the CNS in meningitis, the lymphatic system in scrofula of the neck, the urinary system in urogenital tuberculosis, and bones and joints in Pott’s disease of the spine. An especially serious form is disseminated TB, more commonly known as miliary tuberculosis. While the extrapulmonary TB is not communicable, it may co-exist with pulmonary TB, which is transmittable.

Treatment for TB depends on checking the condition that whether if the person has active TB or only the TB infection.

A person who gets infected with TB, and t does not have active TB, can be given a preventive therapy. This therapy aims to kill the germs that do no  harm right now, but can do so in the future if left untreated..

On the other hand, if the patient has active TB then urgent treatment is required. The patient usually gets a combination of several drugs and probably begins to feel better only a few weeks after he/she starts to take the drugs. However, the medicines are not taken correctly and the patient becomes sick with TB a 2nd time, then the TB disease may get harder to treat because it then becomes drug resistant. It means that the TB germs in the body are unaffected by the drugs used to treat the disease.

Several countries use BCG vaccine as part of their TB control programs, especially for infants. TB prevention and control takes two parallel advances. In the first, people with TB and their contacts are discovered and then treated. Recognition of infections involves testing high-risk groups for TB. In the second approach, children are vaccinated to protect them from TB. Unluckily, no vaccine is available that can provide reliable protection to adults.

TB is a growing and major world wide problem, particularly in Africa where the spread has been facilitated by AIDS.  There is much higher risk of people with AIDS to get infected with TB as they have little immunity.

It’s estimated that nearly one billion people will become newly infected, over 150 million will become sick, and 36 million will die worldwide between now and 2020 – if the control is not strengthened further. Every year there are more than 8.8 million cases and close to 1.6 million deaths attributed to TB.

Influenza is also called the flu. It is an infectious disease that causes fever, cough, chills, headaches, body aches, and sometimes otalgias or fistula problems. The flu is caused by the flu virus . A virus is a microorganism which is so small that you can not see it without a microscope.

For most of the people, the influenza is a drag, that is, it goes away in a week or two. But for some people, the flu virus can make them very ill. Those groups include:

Babies and kids under age Five
People older than 50 vears.
Adults and kids who have common health problems, like diabetes and asthma

Flu is a communicable disease caused by the flu virus.  The Influenza virus infects many parts of the body including the lungs also.

When a person who suffers from influenza sneezes, coughs, or even talks, the influenza virus is thrownout into the air and this air may be taken in by anyone close to him/ her and thus the other person also gets the disease.
When flu strikes the lungs, the lining of the respiratory tract gets damaged and the tissues become swollen and inflamed.
It is often called a respiratory disease, that affects the whole body. The victim usually becomes acutely ill with pyrexia, shiverings, weakness, loss of appetite and aching of the head and whole body. The influenza diseased person may also have a sore throat and a dry cough, sickness, and burning eyes. The fever goes up quickly and the temperature may rise even upto 106 degrees F, but after 2 or 3 days, it usually lessens. The patient is often lfeels exhausted for many days afterwards.
SARS, a potentially more dangerous disease may start due to influenza.
Anyone could get influenza, particularly when it is distributed in the biotic community. Persons who are not healthy or well to start with are particularly susceptible to the ramifications that can follow. These people are known as “high risk” and should urgently be vaccinated.

For anyone at high risk, influenza is a very serious illness. These include the people who
Have heart diseases.
Have chronic lung diseases like asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, or cystic fibrosis.
Have chronic kidney disease.
Have serious anemia.
Have diabetes or some other chronic metabolic disorder.
Have diseases or , are having treatments that can depress the immunity.
Women who will be pregnant during influenza season.
All children from 6 to 59 months of age.
Are over age 50.

Numerous experts now recommend that any individual who bids to avoid the influenza should be immunized. These includes those suffering from asthma. A recent American Lung Association study founded that the influenza vaccine is safe for and well supported i for the people suffering from asthma. Another recent study suggested that the vaccine could be important for infants also.

Influenza thus can be prevented with a high degree of success , when a person receives a flu vaccine. There are two vaccine available in the United States.
The first is the flu shot and the second one is Flu Mist.
The viruses in the flu shot are deactivated so that someone immunized cannot get flu from the flu shot.
Flu Mist is the 1st nasal spray authorised for influenza vaccination. This nasal spray is made from an alive but weakened virus, administrated to help develop immunity.

Every 10 years or so, a flu virus strain appears, that’s dramatically distinct from the other members of its family. Once this major change comes about a universal epidemic, called a pandemic, almost unavoidably follows.Several people have antibodies that are effective against the new virus.
One such virus caused the 1918 flu epidemic that entirely swept the world and left in its wake more than 20 million dead.

Finding out that you have diabetes means you need to make serious changes in your diet. There isn’t one certain diet for everyone with diabetes to follow; it’s more specific to each individual. But there are some guidelines that everyone with diabetes can follow in order to make smart dietary choices for their individual needs.

First you have to have a good understanding of what diabetes is. This way you’ll know why it’s so important to follow a special diet. Most of the food we eat is turned into sugar that our bodies use for energy. Another common name for this sugar is glucose. Your pancreas makes a hormone (insulin), which helps get the glucose into the cells of your body. People with diabetes don’t have enough insulin or aren’t able to use the insulin in their body. Since the insulin isn’t working properly it can’t use up the sugar and the sugar builds up in your blood, causing your blood glucose levels to be higher than what they should be.

Along with a healthy diet, physical activity, blood testing, and/or insulin injections are treatments for diabetes. Starting to eat a healthy diet is the first step toward feeling better and taking care of your body. Eating an alternate diet will help with the symptoms of diabetes and help reduce health complications that are associated with diabetes. These symptoms include: heart disease, blindness, lower-extremity amputations, and kidney failure.

So what guidelines should you follow? The American Diabetes Association recommends getting 50-60% of your daily calories from carbohydrates, 12-20% from protein, and less than 30% from fat. Following the food guide pyramid is a great place to find ideas. Just as the pyramid shows you should save junk food for a special treat or don’t go near it. It doesn’t do anything good for your management of diabetes.

Smart choices for those with diabetes include: peas, beans, lotus stem, apples, pears, peaches, whole wheat cereals, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, soups, and buttermilk. A lot of people can also drink coffee and tea as long as no sugar is added.

Along with the foods you can be free to enjoy there are foods that you should stay away from. These foods include: grapes, bananas, fried foods, dry fruits, cakes, pastries, potatoes, yam, and salad oils.

It may be a new concept for you to start counting calories, fat grams, and monitor your amounts of sugar intake but it’s necessary; your health depends on it. The great thing is that there is such a variety of foods that there’s no problem finding what you need. And just because you have to cut certain things out of your diet doesn’t mean that you no longer get to enjoy food. There are plenty of alternative tasty foods that will meet the criteria for your individual dietary needs. Your doctor will be able to give you resources that will aid you in deciding what would best fit your needs.

Just as important as what you eat is when you eat it. When you have diabetes it’s important to spread your meals out throughout the day. Don’t heat infrequent heavy meals but eat smaller meals more frequently. This will help you to avoid having extremely low or high blood glucose levels.

Paying special attention to the foods you eat and monitoring your intake is not just important for keeping your blood sugar levels down but also for your weight management. Because people are at risk for so many health problems weight management is just as important as dietary guidelines. Be sure to consult a doctor before starting any special diet as they will be able to tell you exactly what you need.

The Atkins diet is one that has produced a certain amount of debate, in part because of the unknown effects, good or ill, that it can have on participants. On the one hand, people have attributed the Atkins diet to not only weight loss, but the clearing of acne and other positive effects. Still, others worry that the Atkins diet could lead to abnormally high cholesterol levels and other health problems.

Because this diet affects the amount of sugars that are in the body, the way the Atkins diet and diabetes patients react is of concern. If not properly managed, diabetics are at potentially deadly health risks, so if there is a problem with the Atkins diet and diabetes, it helps to know this. If you have diabetes and the Atkins diet is something that you want to try, know the facts that are necessary to keep you safe.

For Type 1 Diabetes Sufferers

Those who suffer from type 1 diabetes suffer from a problem with the organs that are supposed to produce insulin, resulting in a deficiency of insulin in the blood. Those who suffer from type 1 diabetes and want the Atkins diet for their diet program should consider other alternatives. Because the diet does have such a pronounced effect on blood sugar levels, the necessary measures sufferers of type 1 diabetes must take in order to control blood sugar levels would be too difficult. Type 1 diabetes and the Atkins diet just do not mix well.

For Type 2 Diabetes Sufferers

In contrast, the Atkins diet and type 2 diabetes seem to be much more compatible. Those who suffer from type 2 diabetes produce insulin at lower levels than most folks, or their bodies become less sensitive to its presence, which results in more insulin required in the body to produce the same effect as in a normal individual. The Atkins diet can provide a few benefits for those suffering from type 2 diabetes.

The first benefit is weight loss, which is an important benefit indeed, since many type 2 diabetes sufferers are overweight. The weight loss that the Atkins diet results in provides health benefits for those who suffer from the disease as a result of obesity, reducing the effects of this disease. Also, studies have suggested that those who suffer from diabetes and try the Atkins diet gain increased sensitivity to insulin, which means that their bodies start reacting to it more like a normal individual would. This means less pills or shots are required in order to maintain proper insulin levels. So while the Atkins diet is not a good idea if you suffer from type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes sufferers may find some benefit from this diet program.
